• A relevant qualification in Sports Management or Facility Management is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Northern Cape region as needed.
• Experience in event management within a sports context is advantageous.

This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of facility readiness, safety, and user experience. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team, coordinate with various stakeholders, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance facility performance and community engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational plans for all sports facilities, including fields, courts, pools, and associated buildings.
• Manage and mentor a team of facility staff, including supervisors, maintenance personnel, and event coordinators.
• Oversee the budget for facility operations, maintenance, and capital improvements, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for specialized maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
• Plan and manage the scheduling of facility usage for various sports teams, events, leagues, and public access.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local sports clubs, governing bodies, and community groups to foster partnerships and promote facility usage.
• Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all sports equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in safe and optimal working condition.
• Implement sustainability practices and initiatives to minimize the environmental impact of facility operations.
• Prepare regular reports on facility performance, financial status, and operational challenges for senior management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in sports facility management, recreational facility operations, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing budgets, staff, and operational logistics for large venues.
• Strong understanding of sports facility maintenance, turf management, and sports equipment care.
• Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to sports facilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
