Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sports Event Coordinator to join a dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead planning, execution, and evaluation of a range of sporting events, from local tournaments to regional competitions, ensuring top-tier participant experiences and efficient operations.

The role requires 5+ years in sports-event management, strong vendor and stakeholder skills, and a solid grasp of the Leisure & Sports sector in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in event management, with a focus on sports events.
• Proven ability to plan and execute complex events within budget and on schedule.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Degree in Event Management, Sports Management, Marketing, or related field.
• Strong understanding of the Leisure & Sports industry in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive event plans, including budgets, timelines, venue logistics, and staffing requirements for sporting events.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement of event-related services and equipment.
• Coordinate on-site event execution, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to schedules, and effective problem-solving during events.
• Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to promote events and engage participants and spectators.
• Conduct post-event analysis, gathering feedback, and preparing detailed reports on event success, financial performance, and areas for improvement.
• Liaise with sports associations, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and foster strong partnerships.
