Anonymous in Franschhoek/Paarl area is seeking a sophisticated Sommelier to curate their exceptional wine program on-site.

You will guide guests through an extensive local and international wine list, manage cellar operations, train staff, and ensure perfect pairings to elevate tasting experiences.

The ideal candidate has a certified sommelier qualification, 3+ years in fine dining, and a deep knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Certified Sommelier qualification (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET) is desirable.
• Minimum 3 years as a Sommelier or in a senior wine-focused role in fine dining.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals and pairing principles.
• Excellent customer service and guest engagement skills.
• Strong organizational skills for cellar management and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the restaurant's wine list to complement the menu.
• Manage the wine cellar, inventory, purchasing, and storage.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings for guests.
• Lead wine training sessions for staff to improve service.
• Ensure correct serving temperature and presentation of wines.
• Stay updated on global wine trends and producers.
