Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering of solar PV systems, including system architecture, component selection, and performance modeling.
• Develop detailed single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for solar PV projects.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine optimal system design and placement.
• Perform energy yield assessments and financial modeling for proposed solar PV installations.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant electrical codes, industry standards (e.g., IEC, NRS), and client specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution from design to commissioning.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting during the installation and commissioning phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and assist in the training of technical staff.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in solar PV technology, components, and design software.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience specifically in the design and engineering of solar PV systems.
• Proven expertise in using PV design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, power electronics, grid-tied systems, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Familiarity with South African electrical regulations, grid connection requirements, and relevant industry standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration in a hybrid environment based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape .
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
