Job summary

Placements24 client in Port Elizabeth is looking for an experienced Solar Project Developer to identify, evaluate, and secure new solar energy projects, driving growth in the renewable sector.

You will lead site identification, feasibility studies, permitting, financing, and community engagement, coordinating with landowners, authorities, and investors to deliver commercially viable projects that support a sustainable energy transition in the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in originating, developing, and closing solar energy projects.
• Understanding of solar technology, project finance, permitting processes, and PPA negotiations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with the energy landscape and regulatory environment in South Africa, particularly the Eastern Cape region.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for solar power plant development, conducting thorough feasibility and due diligence assessments.
• Develop and manage project pipelines, from early-stage prospecting through to financial close.
• Engage with landowners, local authorities, and community stakeholders to secure land rights and necessary approvals.
• Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure project designs meet technical and commercial requirements.
• Support the financial modeling and structuring of project investments, working with financial institutions and investors.
• Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and incentive programs impacting the solar industry.
