About the Role

Our client, a leader in specialized software solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a critical development team based in Nelspruit . This role is responsible for guiding a team of talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background coupled with proven leadership and people management skills. You will be instrumental in fostering an agile development environment, ensuring best practices in software engineering, and driving technical innovation. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to manage a team while maintaining a balance between in-office collaboration and remote work, contributing significantly to our client's technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to implementation, testing, and deployment. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements and technical specifications. Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and best practices in software development. Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to the engineering team. Identify and address technical debt and performance bottlenecks. Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy. Manage team performance, career development, and professional growth. Ensure effective communication and collaboration between team members and other departments.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role. Proven experience managing software engineering teams and delivering complex software projects. Strong technical background in object-oriented programming, system design, and software architecture. Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD practices. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to mentor and coach engineers effectively. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. Candidates based in or able to commute to Nelspruit for hybrid work are preferred.
