About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm at the forefront of innovative solutions, is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering to lead their engineering division, based in Nelspruit. This executive leadership position is responsible for setting the technical direction, managing multiple engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products and platforms. Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the company's engineering strategy, vision, and roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
• Lead, manage, and mentor multiple software engineering teams, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring efficient processes, code quality, and timely delivery.
• Drive technical innovation, architectural decisions, and best practices across the engineering organization.
• Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other departments to translate product requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; a PhD is a plus.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 6 years in a senior leadership role managing engineering teams.
• Proven track record of successfully leading and scaling engineering organizations in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, architecture patterns, and modern technology stacks.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architectures is highly desirable.
• Experience in managing budgets and P&Ls for engineering departments.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Nelspruit area.
