Placements24 is seeking a Senior Site Engineer for a major civil project in Midrand, Gauteng. You will supervise on-site activities, coordinate subcontractors, monitor safety, and ensure delivery on time and budget.

You will apply your extensive civil engineering knowledge, manage resources, prepare progress reports, and liaise with clients and regulators to keep projects compliant and progressing smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8+ years of site engineering/construction management.
• Experience managing large-scale civil projects.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, regs.
• Familiar with project management principles (FIDIC).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors and site personnel, providing clear direction and technical guidance.
• Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure all work meets established standards and specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Manage site logistics, including material procurement, equipment allocation, and site security.
• Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and upcoming activities.
• Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to address queries and facilitate project approvals.
• Manage site budgets and resource allocation, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal utilization of assets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges that arise during the construction phase.

Our client, a leading name in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Site Engineer to join their dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng . This is a critical role overseeing the successful execution of major construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, project management methodologies, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. You will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency on-site, working collaboratively with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in site engineering and construction management.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale civil construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and techniques (e.g., FIDIC forms of contract).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and project management tools.
• Valid professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng or similar) is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Midrand, Gauteng .
