Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed construction schedules and work plans.
• Oversee quality control procedures, material testing, and inspections.

About the Role

Our client, a leading construction contractor, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Engineer to oversee the execution of major infrastructure projects in Randburg, Gauteng. This critical role involves managing all on-site engineering activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will be responsible for supervising site teams, coordinating with project managers, and liaising with clients and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all site engineering operations, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Develop and implement detailed construction schedules and work plans for site activities.
• Oversee quality control procedures, material testing, and inspections to ensure adherence to standards.
• Manage site teams, including engineers, foremen, and laborers, providing direction and motivation.
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project flow.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor site performance and identify potential issues.
• Resolve on-site technical challenges and engineering problems promptly and effectively.
• Ensure all site activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, including site measurements and resource utilization.
• Maintain accurate site records, including as-built drawings and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in site engineering and construction management, with a strong background in infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, bulk earthworks, services).
• Proven experience in managing large construction sites and multidisciplinary teams.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality assurance practices.
• Strong understanding of contract administration and relevant construction legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using site-related software and measurement tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work on-site in and around Randburg, Gauteng.
