Job summary

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Shift Supervisor Mining position to be placed in Tharisa. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer and contribute to safe, efficient underground production.

Preference will be given to HDSA candidates, with applications open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents. The role emphasizes planning, reporting, and strong team leadership within a defined total section.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience as a Shift Supervisor in underground mining.
• Blasting Certificate of Competency and Shift Supervisor Certificate required.
• Medically fit to work underground.
• Clear criminal record.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, plan, organise and control daily production targets within budget.
• Manage materials, consumables and explosives within tolerances for total section.
• Report accurately and timely in line with DMR, Cementation Africa and client requirements.
• Lead a competent, motivated team and drive performance.
• Align team with Cementation Africa values and leadership initiatives.
• Monthly planning and measurement of total section performance.
• Develop and mine total section construction and development.
• Identify and mitigate risks proactively.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement.
• Ensure compliance with company and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols.

Job description

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Shift Supervisor Mining to be placed in Tharisa. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Effective daily supervision, planning, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety targets within budget
• Management of materials, consumables and explosives within tolerances for total section
• Accurate, timely, thorough reporting in line with the DMR, Cementation Africa and client requirements
• Managing team performance and ensuring a competent, motivated and positive team
• Effective team and self-management in alignment with Cementation Africa values and leadership initiatives
• Monthly planning and measuring of total section
• Development and mining construction for total section
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation
• Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement
• Self and team understand and comply with Cementation Africa and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
• Blasting Certificate of Competency
• Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Sound planning and organising skills
• Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Accepted for Mine Overseer certificate by the DMPR
• Medically fit to work underground
• Clear criminal record

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 5 years of working experience as a Shift Supervisor in an underground mining environment
• Sound knowledge of trackless mining operations
