Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Johannesburg is seeking a Shaft Structural Engineer with deep experience in the design and execution of mining infrastructure to join the Mining Sector Practice. The role involves handling surface and underground structures and delivering solutions across project phases.

The successful candidate will perform structural analysis, design calculations, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client requirements.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years’ experience in structural design for underground and surface mining infrastructure.
• Registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA; Professional Engineer would be advantageous
• BSc/B.Eng in Civil Engineering with a Structural specialization; Master’s preferred
• In-depth knowledge of structural concrete and steelwork; dynamic loading knowledge advantageous
• Experience with PROKON; Strand7 and STAAD Pro advantageous
• Bentley ProjectWise and OpenBuildings Designer (Microstation) knowledge advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop structural design basis and criteria.
• Develop technical specifications for construction.
• Review bid submissions and TEAR documentation.
• Develop structural designs from Concept to Execution.
• Undertake structural analysis and design calculations.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.
