Placements24 is seeking a Senior Petroleum Geoscientist in Klerksdorp, North West, South Africa. The role focuses on seismic interpretation to identify hydrocarbon prospects and build subsurface models, integrating seismic with well and core data to support exploration and development strategies.

The candidate should have a Master's degree in Geophysics/Geology and at least eight years of seismic interpretation experience in the oil and gas industry, with proficiency in Petrel and DecisionSpace.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or related Earth Science field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive seismic interpretation experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed 2D and 3D seismic interpretation to identify traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Utilize seismic processing tools and interpretation software (Petrel, DecisionSpace).
• Evaluate exploration prospects and de-risk fields based on geological evidence.
• Collaborate with exploration and engineering teams to support projects.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and share technical expertise.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for decisions.
• Stay updated on seismic imaging technologies and interpretation methods.
