Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Petroleum Geologist for our client in Cape Town to lead geological modeling and hydrocarbon evaluation. You will integrate seismic, well log, and core data to build subsurface models and identify prospective assets across onshore and offshore settings.

The role requires 8+ years in petroleum exploration geology, expertise in Petrel/DecisionSpace, and strong reporting/presentation skills for effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in geology or geophysics required.
• Minimum 8 years of petroleum exploration geology experience.
• Proficiency in geological modelling software (Petrel, DecisionSpace).
• Strong knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and interpret geological models of subsurface reservoirs and plays.
• Integrate seismic, well log, and core data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects.
• Perform basin analysis and play fairway mapping to guide exploration efforts.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers in prospect risking and economic evaluation.
• Manage geological data and maintain the company's geological databases.
• Stay abreast of new geological concepts and technologies relevant to hydrocarbon exploration.
