Job summary

Placements24 invites an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to join the Mahikeng operations team. You will oversee rotating machinery performance, safety and reliability across turbines, compressors, pumps and generators, applying design reviews, maintenance strategies and troubleshooting expertise.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 8+ years in rotating equipment, and familiarity with API standards, vibration analysis, condition monitoring and lubrication best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of rotating equipment experience in an industrial environment (oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation).
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is a strong asset.
• Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment types: centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas/turbine and steam turbines, pumps, generators.
• Experience with API standards for rotating equipment.
• Strong vibration analysis, condition monitoring and lubrication knowledge.
• Experience with equipment failure analysis and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and CMMS.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in selection, design, installation, operation and maintenance of rotating equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Conduct design reviews of equipment specifications and vendor proposals.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and start-up of new rotating equipment.
• Perform RCFA on failures and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and manage lubrication programs and ensure industry standards.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement proactive reliability improvements.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes (API, ASME) and company policies.
• Contribute to engineering standards and procedures for rotating equipment.
