Placements24 is seeking a Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer for our client in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will diagnose, maintain, and optimize turbines, compressors, and pumps to minimize downtime and maximize asset reliability.

The role requires strong problem-solving, collaboration with operations, and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities include developing maintenance strategies, analyzing performance data, and guiding repairs or upgrades while coordinating with vendors and service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on rotating equipment in an industrial setting.
• In-depth knowledge of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of turbines, compressors, pumps, and related systems.
• Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
• Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling software.
• Strong understanding of seals, bearings, lubrication, and materials relevant to rotating machinery.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; team-oriented.

Responsabilités

• Perform detailed diagnostics on rotating equipment such as turbines, compressors, and pumps.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for critical machinery.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify efficiency improvements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities with quality and safety in mind.
• Review and approve technical specifications for new equipment and parts.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure quality workmanship and timely tasks.
• Participate in RCFA for equipment failures and derive action plans.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for upgrades or modifications.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
