Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation or Road Engineering.
• Professional registration as Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years of road design and planning experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MXROAD, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of South African road design standards and traffic engineering principles.
• Experience with earthworks, drainage, and pavement design is advantageous.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the geometric design of rural and urban road networks, including highways, arterials, and local roads.
• Develop detailed road design plans, including horizontal and vertical alignment, cross-sections, and earthworks calculations.
• Design road intersections, interchanges, and traffic calming measures.
• Conduct traffic studies and analyses to inform road design decisions.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and construction drawings for road projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and provincial road design standards and specifications.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for road design components.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, such as drainage, utilities, and structures engineers, to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior road design engineers and technicians.

About the Role

Our client, a leading infrastructure development firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Roads Design Engineer to join their established team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is pivotal in the design and planning of road infrastructure projects, encompassing urban roads, highways, and intersections. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of geometric road design, traffic engineering principles, and relevant South African design standards. You will be responsible for leading design teams, managing project deliverables, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of road construction and upgrade projects within Paarl and the broader Western Cape region.
