Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Principal RF Network Planner in Polokwane, Limpopo, offering a hybrid work model. The role focuses on strategic RF planning, site surveys, and optimization for 2G/3G/4G LTE and 5G NR to ensure superior coverage and capacity.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering and 8+ years of RF planning experience with Atoll/Planet, antennas, and KPI analyses. You will mentor juniors and lead technical initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in RF engineering and network planning in mobile telecoms.
• Expertise in RF planning tools (Atoll, Planet).
• Experience with RF design/optimization for 2G/3G/4G LTE and 5G NR.
• Strong knowledge of antenna systems, propagation, interference analysis, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term RF network strategic plans with capacity and coverage forecasting.
• Conduct RF site surveys and propagation modeling to identify optimal base station locations.
• Analyze drive test data and KPI performance to optimize network.
• Plan RF architecture for 5G NR and new technologies in line with business goals.
• Evaluate RF planning tools, software, and hardware for design and optimization.
• Collaborate with deployment and operations teams to implement network plans.
• Mentor junior RF engineers and contribute to best practices.
• Stay updated with RF tech, mobile standards, and regulatory requirements.
