Placements24 is seeking a Remote Grid Integration Specialist to support South Africa's energy infrastructure. You will analyze grid stability, develop interconnection strategies, and ensure regulatory and technical compliance for renewable energy projects.

A Master’s in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems specialization and 7+ years of experience, plus expertise in PSS/E, DIgSILENT, PowerFactory and PSCAD, will help you thrive remotely and guide grid connections across regions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power system engineering, focusing on grid integration of renewable energy.
• Proven expertise in power system modeling and simulation software (PSS/E, PowerFactory, DIgSILENT, PSCAD).
• Understanding of grid codes, interconnection standards and regulatory frameworks in South Africa and regions.
• Experience with energy storage integration is a strong asset.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the impact of renewable energy projects (solar, wind) on the existing power grid infrastructure.
• Develop and implement technical solutions for grid integration of distributed and utility-scale energy resources.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with national and regional grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Collaborate with utility operators, project developers, and internal engineering teams to facilitate grid connection processes.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
• Develop and refine grid integration strategies and best practices.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on grid connection challenges and solutions.
• Stay updated on evolving grid technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes related to renewable energy integration.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
