Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Integration Engineer in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, to lead the seamless integration of renewable energy sources into the electricity grid. The role focuses on interconnection studies, grid stability analysis, and the design of solutions to mitigate intermittency challenges.

Ideal candidates will have a Master's in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) and 7+ years of relevant experience, with proficiency in PSS/E/PSCAD/ETAP and a strong grasp of grid

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems.
• 7+ years' experience in power systems with grid integration.
• Knowledge of power flow, transient stability, and short-circuit analysis.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Experience with power system simulation software (PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP).
• Strong understanding of inverter-based resources (solar PV, wind) and their grid impact.

Responsibilities

• Conduct grid interconnection studies for renewable energy projects.
• Analyze power system stability, fault levels, and voltage regulation.
• Develop technical requirements for grid connection equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with national and international grid codes and standards.
• Collaborate with grid operators, utilities, and stakeholders to resolve integration challenges.
• Design and optimize control strategies for renewable plants to ensure grid stability.
• Provide technical guidance on grid integration to project teams and stakeholders.
• Review and approve technical designs and proposals related to grid connection.
• Stay current with advancements in power systems and grid integration practices.
