Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Automotive Systems Engineer to join a globally distributed team in South Africa. You will design, analyze, and validate complex automotive systems including powertrain, chassis, ADAS, and connectivity from a remote setting.

Requires 7+ years in automotive systems, strong MATLAB/Simulink experience, and familiarity with CAN/LIN/Ethernet. You will define requirements, develop architectures, perform validation, and ensure seamless integration across subsystems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in automotive systems engineering or related discipline.
• Experience defining requirements, designing architectures, and validating systems.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle subsystems (powertrain, chassis, ADAS, infotainment).
• Familiarity with CAN/LIN/Ethernet communication protocols.
• Proven ability to model and simulate systems using MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Define system-level requirements and specifications for automotive electronic and mechanical systems.
• Develop system architectures and design specifications ensuring safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform system analysis, including trade-off studies and FMEA, to optimize designs.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical teams for integration and validation.
• Develop and execute system validation plans and test cases to verify functionality.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues during development and production.
• Create and maintain system documentation, including requirements, diagrams and test reports.
• Stay informed about emerging automotive technologies and industry trends.
