Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team on a fully remote basis. The role concentrates on managing key accounting functions from home, ensuring statutory compliance, and delivering precise financial reporting that informs strategic decisions.

You will oversee annual financial statements, lead month-end and year-end closes, implement internal controls, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Professional designation such as CA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA is essential.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience with sophisticated accounting software and ERP systems.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial projects remotely and independently.
• Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and finalisation of annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes with efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of company assets and data integrity.
• Manage and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
