Job summary

Tumaini Consulting is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure and construction group in South Africa. The role focuses on driving the commercial success of large building projects from tender through to completion.

The ideal candidate will have a BTech/BSc in Quantity Surveying with 8+ years of experience, strong contract knowledge (JBCC/NEC), and proven capability in cost management, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or technical degree in Quantity Surveying (BTech/BSc).
• 8+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale building projects.
• Strong knowledge of JBCC, NEC and other relevant contracts and procurement methods.
• Experience in cost management, contract administration, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Manage pre- and post-contract quantity surveying functions on building projects from tender stage through to project completion.
• Prepare and review cost estimates, bills of quantities, tender documentation, valuations, payment certificates, variation orders, financial reports and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow and financial performance, identifying commercial risks and implementing effective cost‑control measures.
