Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established building contractor based in Gauteng, seeks a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

The ideal candidate will have a BTech in Quantity Surveying with 10+ years of contractor-side experience, strong JBCC knowledge, and proficiency in CCS Candy or BuildSmart. Leadership, driving accuracy, and independent work are essential.

Qualifications

• BTech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in building construction (contractor-side).
• Strong knowledge of JBCC and other construction contracts.
• Proven experience managing large-scale residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Proficiency in QS software (CCS Candy, BuildSmart or similar).
• Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and work independently.
• Valid driver’s license and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flows.
• Measure and value work on site (including subcontractor valuations).
• Prepare tender documents, BOQs, and procurement schedules.
• Manage cost reporting and ensure accurate financial forecasting.
• Monitor contract compliance and manage contractual claims and variations.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to validate work completed.
• Assist with final account preparation and project close-out.
• Mentor and support junior QS staff, where applicable.
