Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Quantity Surveyor in Cape Town to drive cost management for major commercial projects. You will lead budgeting, tendering, contract administration and financial reporting, while managing risk and advising stakeholders on financial viability.

The role requires a minimum of 7 years in quantity surveying, with strong knowledge of JBCC, FIDIC and NEC forms. Mentoring junior staff and delivering value in high-profile developments are key aspects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying for commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of JBCC, FIDIC, NEC contract forms.
• Proficiency in cost management and financial modelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Prepare tender docs, BOQs, specifications and contracts.
• Administer contracts with variations, claims and payments.
• Conduct cost analysis, value engineering and risk assessments.
• Negotiate terms with contractors and suppliers.
• Produce monthly cost reports and final accounts.
• Provide advice on procurement and dispute resolution.
• Liaise with teams to meet financial objectives.
• Mentor junior quantity surveyors and cost controllers.
