About the Role

Our client, a highly reputable developer and construction firm, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead significant commercial development projects in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This is a key leadership position responsible for the successful execution of complex construction projects from initiation to handover. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of all phases of the construction lifecycle, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relationships effectively. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, reinforcing our client's reputation for excellence in the Durban construction market. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Manage project teams, including site staff, subcontractors, and consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using project management software.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and quality control procedures on all sites in Durban .
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities to ensure project alignment and address any issues promptly.
• Manage procurement processes, including tender evaluations and contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensure project close-out procedures are followed, including documentation and handover.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management within the construction industry, with a focus on commercial developments.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations in South Africa .
• Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
• Experience with contract administration and dispute resolution.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Durban .
