Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Randburg, Gauteng-based client in the Oil & Gas sector. You will drive upstream projects from concept through commissioning, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and resources.

Strong leadership and PM expertise are essential to lead cross-functional teams and ensure safe, on-time delivery. The role offers a hybrid work model, relocation support, and exposure to flagship energy projects in a dynamic Gauteng environment.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in project engineering and management, preferably oil & gas upstream.
• PMI/PMP knowledge or certification is preferred.
• Experience with project management software such as MS Project and Primavera P6.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their team, working from our offices in Randburg, Gauteng, ZA , with potential for hybrid arrangements. This role is central to the successful execution of upstream oil and gas projects, from conceptual design through to commissioning and handover. You will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, excellent project management skills, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of upstream oil and gas projects, including feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project execution plans, defining scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Oversee the selection and management of contractors and vendors.
• Ensure that all projects comply with company standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage project changes and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including management, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Prepare regular project status reports and financial updates.
• Conduct post-project reviews and identify lessons learned for future projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum) or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering and management within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably with upstream operations.
• Proven track record of successfully managing capital projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI/PMP).
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex technical challenges and make sound decisions.li>
• Experience in risk management, cost control, and schedule management.
• Familiarity with engineering design, procurement, and construction processes in the oil and gas industry.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage client relationships in Randburg .
• Professional Engineering (Pr Eng) or PMP certification is a strong asset.
