Placements24 seeks a Senior Facilities Engineer to join a remote-capable team with occasional site visits near Randburg. You will help design, build, operate and maintain upstream oil and gas facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost efficiency across Gauteng and beyond.

The role requires 7+ years in oil and gas facilities engineering, PSM/HAZOP knowledge, and strong project management and communication skills. Travel to sites is required as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of oil and gas facilities engineering experience.
• Experience in design, operation, and maintenance of upstream facilities.
• Strong knowledge of PSM and HAZOP.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely and travel to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, engineering, and modification of production facilities (separation, processing, export).
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies and turnaround plans.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support for facility operations and troubleshooting.
• Manage capital projects from conceptualization to commissioning.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Facilities Engineer to join their team, operating predominantly in a remote capacity with occasional site visits to operational areas near Randburg . This role is integral to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of upstream oil and gas production facilities. You will ensure that all facilities meet stringent safety, environmental, and operational standards, while optimizing performance and managing costs. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects in the Oil & Gas industry from a flexible, remote-based setting, supporting operations across Gauteng and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, engineering, and modification of production facilities, including separation, processing, and export systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies and turnaround plans for production facilities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support for facility operations, troubleshooting issues and recommending solutions.
• Manage capital projects related to facilities, from conceptualization through to commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and operations personnel to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in oil and gas facilities engineering .
• Proven experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of upstream production facilities.
• Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and HAZOP studies.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and travel to operational sites as needed.
