About the Role

Our client, a leading organization within the Oil & Gas and energy infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their team in Randburg, Gauteng. This role is pivotal in managing and executing complex infrastructure projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for overseeing project planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering project management, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the energy sector. This position offers a significant opportunity to shape and deliver critical infrastructure within South Africa, contributing to the nation's energy future and working within a highly respected industry leader.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and completion of major infrastructure projects within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and manage resources effectively.
• Oversee the design, engineering, procurement, and construction phases of projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering codes, standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Monitor project progress, performance, and financial status, reporting to senior management regularly.
• Conduct project reviews and implement lessons learned for future projects.
• Ensure effective coordination between various engineering disciplines and operational teams.
• Champion health, safety, and environmental (HSE) excellence throughout all project activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related field. Professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng.) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project engineering and management, with a significant focus on the Oil & Gas or energy infrastructure sector.
• Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects from initiation to close-out.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• Excellent knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices, and contract management.
• Demonstrated leadership, team management, and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in South Africa.
• Must have the legal right to work in South Africa and be based in or willing to commute to Randburg, Gauteng.
