Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a prominent engineering firm in George, Western Cape, to recruit a Project Engineer - Mechanical Systems. You will lead mechanical projects from planning through commissioning, coordinating with design, construction and client teams, while managing schedules and budgets.

The role demands 6+ years in mechanical project engineering, strong leadership and communication, and familiarity with PMP/PRINCE2 practices. Renewable energy exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in project engineering with mechanical systems.
• Proven track record of managing complex projects from initiation to closure.
• Knowledge of PMP or PRINCE2 is desirable.
• Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera.
• Experience in renewable energy sector is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of mechanical engineering projects from planning to commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate with design, construction, operations, clients, suppliers, subcontractors.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, safety and environmental policies.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and contract evaluations.
• Identify and mitigate project risks; implement corrective actions.
• Oversee mechanical systems performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project team members.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
