Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a prominent engineering firm in George to hire a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer. You will lead the design, development and implementation of complex mechanical systems for renewable energy projects, guiding a team of engineers and coordinating with project managers, R&D and manufacturing partners.

The role demands a hands-on, on-site leader with 10+ years in mechanical engineering, CAD/CAE proficiency (CATIA, ANSYS, COMSOL), and a proven ability to deliver

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive experience with renewable energy systems is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (e.g., CATIA, ANSYS, COMSOL) and a strong understanding of simulation techniques.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide engineering teams.
• Excellent understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and system integration.
• Strong project management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for renewable energy applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical direction and fostering professional growth.
• Oversee the creation of detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct thorough performance analysis, including structural, thermal, and vibrational simulations, to validate system designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans for prototypes and production units.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Contribute to strategic planning and technology roadmapping for future product development.
• Present technical findings and project updates to stakeholders and senior management.
