Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the design and development of renewable energy systems in Cape Town. You will lead a team of engineers through concept, design, prototyping and performance validation to deliver high-quality energy solutions.

The role requires steering multidisciplinary collaboration, advanced CAD and simulation expertise, and a strong leadership presence to drive projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience, with renewable energy focus.
• Experience leading engineering teams on complex projects.
• Strong proficiency in CAD and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, structural mechanics.
• Experience with international standards and renewables certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers in renewable energy component design.
• Oversee 3D modeling and detailed drawings with CAD software.
• Perform simulations and FMEA to ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls and materials engineers for system integration.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Develop testing protocols for prototypes and production units.
• Drive adoption of new materials and design methodologies.
• Present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
