Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Production Chemical Engineer for Durban-based operations. The role focuses on optimizing large-scale chemical production, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations while driving improvements.

Fully remote within South Africa; leadership of process optimization, SOPs, KPIs, collaboration with maintenance and QA; requires 8+ years and a Chemical Engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in chemical plant operations and production management.
• Proven experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of chemical plant equipment, control systems (DCS/PLC), and process safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize day-to-day chemical production processes to meet output targets and quality specifications.
• Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean Six Sigma.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure strict adherence to them.
• Monitor process performance, analyze data, and generate reports on KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate with maintenance, quality control, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient plant operation.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and plant operators on process operations and safety procedures.
• Lead process safety reviews and risk assessments for production activities.
