Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive product development within the R&D department. You will lead mechanical design from concept to mass production and mentor junior engineers.

You will perform FEA/CFD analyses, develop detailed 3D models, and collaborate with electrical, software, and industrial design teams to deliver integrated solutions. A hybrid work model and executive-level bonus potential are offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
• Deep understanding of material science, thermodynamics, acoustics, and vibration analysis.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex technical projects.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to mass production.
• Perform advanced engineering analysis, including FEA and CFD, to optimize performance, durability, and manufacturability.
• Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for components and assemblies.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers to create integrated solutions.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, troubleshooting issues and driving design improvements.
• Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor and innovation.
