Job summary

JDJ Diagnostics in Durban is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to own the procurement lifecycle end-to-end, ensuring cost-effective, timely acquisition of goods and services.

The ideal candidate will lead with strong strategic thinking, hands-on experience in JIT inventory, supplier negotiations, and robust reporting using procurement software. You will optimize our supply chain and coordinate movement of materials to multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading end-to-end procurement and team leadership.
• Expertise in Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory and operational planning.
• Strong communication and data reporting abilities.
• Experience with procurement software systems and supplier performance tracking.

Responsibilities

• Implement systems from stock ordering to distribution and receipt.
• Negotiate lead-times and pricing with suppliers.
• General supervision of store's function and inventory records.
• Maintain and update inventory stock records.
• Monitor inventory levels and usage.
• Coordinate regular inventory stock counts and variances reporting.
• Generate POs for approval and manage receipt/dispatch processes.
• Update inventory systems and backorder tracking.
• Track expiry dates and optimize stock to prevent wastage.
• Train new staff and implement loss-prevention measures.

About the job Senior Procurement Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly experienced and decisive Senior Procurement Officer to take full ownership of our procurement lifecycle. This is a critical leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless, cost-effective, and timely acquisition of goods and services essential to our operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing end-to-end procurement in a fast-paced environment, with specific expertise in Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory, operational planning, effective communication skills, recording and reporting on processed data, seamless and timeous movement of goods to various geographical locations and solid software systems experience. You shall demonstrate exemplary skills to make key purchasing decisions, negotiate major contracts, and optimize our supply chain for maximum efficiency and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Implement systems from stock ordering to distribution and receipt
