Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Process Safety Engineer based in Benoni, Gauteng. You will oversee the development, implementation, and management of process safety programs, leading PHAs and ensuring safety across operations.

The role requires 10+ years in process safety within Oil & Gas, strong leadership, and expertise in PSM, risk assessments, and regulatory standards. Travel to project sites within Gauteng may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process safety within Oil & Gas.
• Demonstrated expertise in PHAs, risk assessments, and consequence modeling.
• In-depth knowledge of international safety standards (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).

Responsibilities

• Lead PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If) execution.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Ensure integrity of safety-critical equipment via audits and reviews.
• Provide technical process safety guidance to teams.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver site process safety training.
• Oversee Management of Change (MOC) process.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies on safety matters.
• Champion a strong safety culture across Benoni operations.
• Stay abreast of emerging process safety best practices.
