Qualifications

7+ years of experience in process safety engineering within chemical/petrochemical industries.
Proven expertise in hazard analysis methods (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If).
Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
Experience with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
Excellent reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If for new and existing processes.
Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
Ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations and standards (OSH A PSM, SANS).
Investigate safety incidents, near misses and deviations to determine root causes and actions.
Develop and deliver process safety training for engineers, operators, and management.
Review designs and modifications to ensure safety integrity.
Oversee management of change (MOC) processes to manage risks of modifications.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations.
Advise management on process safety risks and mitigation strategies.
