Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a leading chemical manufacturer in Pretoria. You will oversee safety across chemical processing operations and drive a culture of safety throughout the site.

Key duties include leading hazard analyses (PHAs), implementing PSM programs, investigating incidents, delivering training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM and SANS codes. Independent yet collaborative, you will influence safety practices across the Gauteng operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 7 years of process safety engineering experience in chemical/petrochemical environments.
• Proven expertise in hazard analysis techniques (HAZOP/LOPA/What-If).
• Strong grasp of Process Safety Management (PSM) and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct PHAs including HAZOP/LOPA/What-If studies for new and existing processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management programs.
• Ensure compliance with national/international safety regulations (OSHA PSM, SANS).
• Investigate process safety incidents and determine root causes with corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for engineers and operators.
• Review designs to ensure safety integrity and manage change processes.
