Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a Polokwane, Limpopo role focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and robust safety management systems across chemical processes.

You will lead PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/What-If), implement PSM programs, investigate incidents, and drive training, audits, and mechanical integrity to strengthen safety culture within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in chemical industry.
• Knowledge of PSM regulations (OSHA PSM, Seveso) and hazard identification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If) and develop robust safety analyses.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Perform incident investigations and root cause analyses for safety events.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver safety training for employees and contractors.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Manage mechanical integrity programs for critical safety equipment.
• Draft and review safety procedures and emergency plans.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to integrate safety into design changes.
• Promote proactive safety culture and provide technical process safety expertise.
