Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join its Randburg hub. The role focuses on maintaining process safety, hazard mitigation, and robust safety management systems across oil and gas operations.

You will identify hazards, implement controls, and promote a proactive safety culture through training and rigorous risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in process safety engineering within oil/gas or chemical sectors.
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements including PHA, MOC, PSSR, and mechanical integrity.
• Experience with SIS and QRA and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/What-If).
• Develop, implement, and manage PSM programs.
• Conduct incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their operational hub in Randburg . This crucial role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of our process operations within the oil and gas industry . You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards, implementing robust safety management systems, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in process hazard analysis and a deep understanding of safety regulations pertinent to the sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and manage process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct thorough incident investigations related to process safety events and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform risk assessments and ensure that safety critical equipment is identified and maintained.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to engineering and operations personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable process safety regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering , with significant experience in the oil and gas or chemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements, including PHA, MOC, PSSR, and mechanical integrity.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and quantitative risk assessment (QRA).
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
