Placements24 in Pietermaritzburg seeks a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and deployment of new chemical processes, improving efficiency, safety, and product quality. You will perform process simulations, develop PFDs and P&IDs, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and collaborate with production, R&D, and management on strategic goals.

Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's).
Minimum 7 years of experience in chemical process design, optimization, and plant operations.
Experience with process modeling software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis.
Strong understanding of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass transfer.
Experience with HAZOP and process safety management is desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and implementation of new chemical processes and modifications.
Conduct process simulations and data analysis to identify improvements and cost reduction.
Develop and maintain PFDs and P&IDs.
Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental standards, and quality control.
Troubleshoot operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with production teams, R&D, and management to achieve operational excellence and strategic goals.
