Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Chemical Engineer for our client in East London, Eastern Cape. You will drive process optimization for petrochemical production, translating complex chemistry into scalable, safe, and compliant operations.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred) with 7+ years in process engineering, proficiency in design and simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS), PSM/HAZOP, and proven project leadership; plus collaboration across R&D,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and optimize chemical processes for petrochemicals, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to minimize downtime and improve yield.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, maintenance and safety to ensure project execution and operational excellence.
• Oversee pilot plant trials and scale-up activities for full-scale production.
• Perform process simulations and modeling to predict performance and identify improvements.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Mentor junior engineers and prepare technical reports and project proposals.
