Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng, is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize chemical production, improve yield, and ensure safety and product quality. Hybrid role with on-site analysis and remote planning.

You will design and scale up processes, perform PHAs and risk analyses, collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance, and drive continuous improvements in a leading chemical manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer in chemicals.
• Knowledge of chemical process principles, reaction engineering, and separation technologies.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II) and process safety (PSM/HAZOP).

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to improve yield, efficiency, and safety.
• Develop and implement process improvements, including P&ID updates and equipment modifications.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions.
• Design and scale-up new chemical processes, ensuring operability and economic viability.
• Conduct feasibility studies and process hazard analyses (PHAs).
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance teams to support new product introductions and process changes.
