Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Design Engineer for our Randburg offices to conceptualize, design and develop innovative chemical processes. You will craft PFDs and P&IDs, perform balances, and specify equipment, contributing to significant industrial projects.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential. Ideal candidates have a strong chemical engineering background, 5+ years in process design, and proficiency in Aspen HYSYS or ChemCAD, with a commitment to safety and regulatory

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of chemical process design experience.
Proficient in Aspen HYSYS or ChemCAD.
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
Experience generating PFDs and P&IDs.
Familiar with ASME/API codes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and teamwork.
Willing to work full-time in Randburg.

Responsibilities

Develop process designs from concept to detailed engineering.
Create and manage PFDs and P&IDs.
Perform material and energy balances for processes.
Specify process equipment including reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and separators.
Conduct process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software.
Ensure designs comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and clients.
Troubleshoot design-related issues during construction and commissioning.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and design summaries.
Assist in evaluating new technologies and process improvements.
