Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Process Engineer for a Randburg, Gauteng-based role in specialty chemicals. You will optimize and maintain process efficiency, safety, and quality across diverse production plants, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements.

Ideal candidate has a chemical engineering background with at least 4 years in chemical manufacturing, and can develop PFDs/P&IDs while ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 4 years of process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.
Solid understanding of unit operations, reaction engineering, and thermodynamics.
Experience with process simulation software is advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring product quality.
Implement process changes to enhance efficiency, yield and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and maintain PFDs and P&IDs.
Ensure compliance with SHE regulations.
Participate in PHAs and implement recommendations.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance and quality control teams.
Assist in scale-up from lab/pilot to commercial scale.
Prepare technical reports and operating procedures.
Support process control strategies and automation initiatives.
Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
