Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in process design.
• Experience with Aspen Plus or ChemCAD and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and mass transfer.
• Ability to manage projects from concept to detailed engineering.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex chemical processes and systems.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Design Engineer to lead critical design projects in Vereeniging. This role demands extensive experience in conceptualizing, developing, and executing complex chemical process designs from initial feasibility studies through to detailed engineering. You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, ensuring designs meet stringent safety, environmental, and operational requirements, and collaborating with project management and clients to deliver successful outcomes. This is a senior position offering significant influence and responsibility within a respected engineering firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex chemical processes and systems for various industrial applications.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Review and approve design documents, calculations, and vendor proposals.
• Mentor and guide junior process engineers, fostering their technical development and project execution skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in process design engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
