Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging seeks a Process Development Engineer to drive the research, development and implementation of new chemical processes from concept to commercial production. You will work across lab and pilot scales to ensure efficiency, safety and economic viability in a leading industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in process development, scale-up, or R&D within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
• Experience with DOE and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new chemical processes from conceptualization to commercialization.
• Design and execute experiments at laboratory and pilot plant scales to validate process parameters.
• Analyze experimental data to optimize reaction conditions, yields, and product purity.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and engineering teams to ensure technology transfer.
• Conduct techno-economic assessments for new process technologies.

About the Role
