About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to lead critical design projects from their Sandton office. This role focuses on conceptualizing, developing, and executing the detailed design for new chemical plants and modifications to existing facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring designs meet all technical, safety, economic, and environmental requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong track record in front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design phases, with excellent leadership and communication skills to manage complex engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process design efforts for capital projects, from conceptualization through to detailed engineering.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs for efficiency, safety, and operability.
• Conduct and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensure safety considerations are integrated into designs.
• Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and oversee vendor selections.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, project management, and clients to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in process design engineering, with significant experience in project execution .
• Proven expertise in FEED and detailed design for chemical processing facilities.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development tools.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles, codes, and standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills required for a hybrid role in Sandton .
