Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join our team in Upington. You will analyze, design, and optimize electrical power systems for grid infrastructure, power generation, and distribution networks.

The role requires strong knowledge of power system dynamics and a commitment to advancing energy infrastructure in the Upington area. You will perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies, design substations, develop protection schemes, analyze power

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
Extensive experience in the analysis and design of electrical power systems.
Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles.

Responsibilities

Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies for power systems.
Design and specify electrical components for substations, transmission, and distribution lines.
Develop protection schemes and coordinate relays for power system equipment.
Analyze power quality issues and recommend solutions for improvement.
Collaborate with grid operators and other stakeholders on system planning and operation.
Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
