Job summary

Placements24 in Upington seeks a seasoned Power Systems Engineer to lead development and management of electrical infrastructure, with emphasis on generation, transmission, and distribution systems. You will influence major power projects and ensure reliability and efficiency of the grid.

The role demands a master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), 8+ years of experience, and proficiency with PS software; Pr. Eng registration is preferred. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems specialization.
• 8+ years in power systems engineering, design and analysis.
• Experience with PS software: PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA preferred; renewable integration a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and plan power systems including load forecasting and network expansion.
• Develop specs for transformers, switchgear, protection relays.
• Conduct fault, stability, and power quality studies.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and industry best practices.
• Oversee implementation and commissioning of upgrades.
