Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment in Pretoria, South Africa, is seeking a senior Platform Engineer to design and deliver scalable, production-grade platforms and internal developer tooling for several engineering teams.

You will own AWS, Kubernetes and GitOps pipelines, build self-service capabilities, and ensure reliability, observability and security across cloud-native environments. The role requires hands-on cloud experience and a track record of delivering reusable platform abstractions.

Qualifications

5+ years in Platform Engineering building self-service platforms.
6+ years with Public Cloud, AWS hands-on experience.
6+ years with containerisation and container platforms.
Strong Kubernetes GitOps experience with ArgoCD/Flux and Helm/Kustomize.
Experience implementing monitoring/observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
Solid DevOps practices and CI/CD using GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD.
Proven track record building production-grade platforms for self-service use.
Hands-on Crossplane, ArgoCD and Backstage experience is non-negotiable.
Proven Kubernetes Operators experience is non-negotiable.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain GitOps pipelines and IaC tooling across teams.
Ensure reliability, observability and security of cloud-native platforms.
Collaborate with engineering teams to promote reusable platform abstractions.
